Thanksgiving Meal Donations 2017

My husband and I are born & raised Temecula natives, and we are now raising our own two children here. As a family, we have always tried to give back to our local community as often as we can. For a few years in a row we donated 15 pies to the community Christmas dinner, when we ourselves were strapped for money.

For the second year, our family owned construction company has put together Thanksgiving meals for local families in need. Each meal consisted of a frozen 14 lb turkey, a roasting pan, a box of stuffing, a can of cranberry sauce, canned veggies, 5 lbs of fresh potatoes, gravy, rolls, and a fresh pie. We originally offered 12 meals but with the demand from the local community and donations from a few great friends we were able to increase to 20 available meals.

It is a great way to include our kids and allow them to help others. They enjoyed shopping for food, preparing the meal bags, and distributing to the families that came in to pick them up.

It hasn’t always been easy for us either. Getting married and having a baby when Joe and i were 19 & 22, selling our truck to pay utilities, and losing our house when the economy crashed were all hurdles we had to overcome. Thankfully my best friend has stuck by my side through it all and we were able to ride out the tough times.

I'd like to say a big thank you to Albertsons on Winchester Rd. for storing our 20 turkeys in their freezer for us.
